Date: June 2013 - Present Team: Oogbaard & Sketchymonkey Context: Commercial project Hooh Haah I worked on: - Game Design - Programming (C#) - Level design - Playtesting I am working on Hooh Haah with: - Emiel Kampen (Design, Art, Playtesting, Level design, ++) - Alexander Wttewaal (Music, Sound) Hooh and Haah are two monkeys, but they share one tail! On your own or with a friend, you can experience an adventure with funny creatures and challenging puzzles. Emiel and I started working on Hooh Haah in a summer vacation. The goal was to create a game wherein two players have to work together (Co-op). Emiel's job was to create the visual art, while I programmed the game. We designed the game together, and I turned out to have the most spare time left to build levels. Alexander Wttewaal joined in to compose the music and sound for Hooh Haah and as well to give good feedback on the game's design and development process. The game started as a puzzle game wherein the two players had to walk to different 'platforms' while being connected to eachother by rope, collect bananas and offer them to a totemic god. During the different stages of designing, developing and testing the game we have learned a lot about how humans co÷perate in games. Funny was that at first, most players wished more to compete with eachother than to co÷perate. The game evolved to become an adventure game full of stimulants to work together, but it also features opportunities to compete with eachother. While the target audience of Hooh Haah are children, it turns out still to be interesting for older players as they frequently have different solutions in mind for the various challenges. The game is in it's final stage of development. The game will probably be released somewhere in 2014.
